This Month's Guests:
Author MITCHELL HADLEY Comedy Writer/Producer and now Author BOB ILLES AND Author STEVEN PEROS PLUS Very Special Guest - Actor H.M. WYNANT
It's Author's Day 2026 and three books about television will be discussed in detail. First, Mitchell Hadley's new book,
"Darkness in Primetime: How Classic-Era TV Foresaw Modern Society's Descent into Hell" couldn't have a more blunt title.
But it's amazing some of the shows produced over 65 years ago ("Twilight Zone", "Outer Limits", "Star Trek" and a handful
of live dramas) predicted a lot of the circumstances surrounding our lives today. We'll talk about and show clips from
some of these to prove how fiction became fact...prepare to get scared. Mitchell is the webmaster of the very popular
itsabouttv.com site, and has been at that for over 15 years. We'll then go from the serious to the lighthearted - as Bob
Illes shares stories from his successful career via his new book, "Funny is Money: 39 True Stories About I How Made a Shit
Ton of Money Writing TV Comedy". Bob's book is more of a memoir about getting in the business right out of college, and then
working with some of the greats in front of and behind the camera. Despite the book's title, some of these stories are
not that funny, but all are very fascinating and very entertaining. Bob will share memories of meeting and working with
Joey Bishop, Aaron Ruben, George Schlatter, Norman Lear, Bob Carroll and Madelyn Davis, Milton Berle, Bill Cosby, Dick Van
Dyke, and many others! Finally, we present author Steven Peros and his loving tribute to actor H.M. Wynant - who will also
appear - all 99 years of him! - in his book, "You Must Believe!", which is H's line from his famous "Twlight Zone" episode,
"The Howling Man". Steve's book tells the whole story about how H, a poor Jewish kid from Detroit, went to New York to become
a dancer...and ended up as one of television's most-beloved character actors, appearing on everything from "Perry Mason" to
"Gunsmoke" to "Wagon Train" to "The Untouchables" to "Mannix", in a career that spanned over 70 years!
